The History of India is divided into seven modules, and each module is further divided into 4 to 5 sub-sections. All the heads and sub-heads are interactive giving the viewer the choice of topic selection at every level. All the pages of all the modules are illustrated with photographs, illustrations or maps. With one click, the picture can be enlarged to cover the entire screen with the caption explaining the visual.
The seven modules in which the entire Indian History is divided are:
First Indians: This section talks about the first people inhabiting India - the great Indus valley civilization, the vedic age, the growth of the cities and the beginning of Buddhism and Jainism. The period covered is till 4th century BC.
Early Empire: This section covers the period of history between 4th century BC till 700 AD discussing the Mauryas, the Guptas and also the empires of the Deccan.
Regional States: This module talks about the disintegration of the empires, the Rajput kingdom and the Islamic invasions, covering a period after 700 AD till the beginning of the Mughal rule.
The Mughal Period: The entire section is devoted to the great Mughals, and the life and times of the Indian people under their rule.
British in India: This section discusses how the British came to India and gradually made it a part of their empire. The exploitation and revolt of the Indian people is an important part of this section.
On To Freedom: This section is devoted to the freedom struggle, and the work of Gandhi, Nehru and a host of other freedom fighters. And freedom at last !
Modern India: This section talks about how a divided but independent India has been and is still growing, developing and forging ahead in the global arena.
