These soft cotton bead bags are wonderfully embroidered with a colorful picture of Lord Nrisimha (Vishnu).
Bead bags are used for holding your japa mala as you chant. They keep your mala clean, protect your mala from touching the ground, and hide your mala from the view of others as you chant. The shastras state that you should never allow your japa mala to be exposed while chanting, or the effects of your japa sadhana will be reduced.
The bead bag has a large hole for your hand, as well as a small hole so that your index finger can remain outside of the bag while chanting japa (you should not touch your mala with the index finger while chanting). There is also a thin strap for carrying the bead bag around your neck.
